My husband and I (Laura Emerson) live in a little log cabin in Alaska, a 20 minute flight to the nearest major road. We rely on solar and wind power, with a back-up generator. Professionally, we tele-commute to employers far, far away. Certifications in Permaculture, Master Gardening, Master Naturalist, and Herbalism have all taught me skills and insights that enhance our remote life.
